Another great race day, this time the Mini Scillies event, formatted to mimic the multiple race format of the World Championships, and hosted by Helford River Gig Club this weekend.
Mounts Bay had 4 crews racing for the day in Ictis- Ladies Vets, Ladies B, Mens A and Mens Supervets crews.
First up were the Ladies Vets who achieved a hard rowed 10th place, while the Mens Supervets were gutted to receive a finish line infringement ( and DNF) denying them a hard-fought 5th place.
The new Ladies B crew featuring a 50:50 mix of youth versus wisdom and experience raced their first race together, rowing into the wind in some choppy conditions, to a strong 12th place, then got into their stride in the following shorter race to seal a well-deserved 10th place, an an impressive second placed B crew overall.
The Open race saw a similar performance by our Men’s A crew, with their longer race 11th place improved by a few places in the second and final race as they found their race rhythm.
Great hosting as always by Helford, who achieved 1st place in the Womens event and 3rd in the Open.
